Known as an uhuru, this bike resides in a village on the outskirts of the the main urban region of the Gambia. Uhurus are bikes that have been retrofitted with a sturdy sidecar in the shape of a stretcher for transporting patients to a health center. It also has a trailer attachment, which makes it useful for agricultural work when it is not needed as an ambulance.
